Reading and participation on this bulletin board has recently led me to form some very uneducated gut feeling observations about those who post here. Who asked me for my stupid opinion you say? Nobody!!! Why am I sharing this? Just for fun maybe. :) No naming names and no intentional insults, but in a nutshell, there are a few distinguishable types on my radar.

#1 = People who speak/write from the heart. They bare their souls without pretense. They are kind people, straightforward, incredibly smart, genuine, and empathetic. They know what's what, but they dont feel a need to prove to anyone that they know what's what. They're the kind of people that make the world a better place, a happier place. Thank God for #1s!!

#2 = People who seem caught up in themselves, or the idea of themselves maybe, or maybe caught up in something else that makes them appear to be caught up in themselves? :? They want so much to help others along.....partly because they honestly believe they know more and are just a little more "spiritually evolved" than others. Partly because they want to put on a tank top and zubaz pant and flex their muscles for everyone. "Look at how insightful I am! Look at how smart I am! You can't even understand me because I'm so f***ing intellectual and creative!"

#3 = People with a writing style similar to a Courtney Love blog. Disjointed, stream of consciousness, a little schizo at times, run-on sentences, a lot of words with not a lot of substance, a lot of self-indulgence (that's everyone I suppose), but still you can tell they would probably be pretty awesome to hang out with in real life.

#4 = People don't post all that often, who can say a lot with few words, but sometimes choose to use a lot of words. Amazingly clever, imaginitive people who you just know you could learn a ton from. We would all be fortunate to know them.

#5 = The people-pleasers. They just want to get a long with everyone! :O:

#6 = People who shoot their mouths off for the fun of it to interact with types 1-5 because they truly feel that we can all offer each other something. Sometimes these people might not know what the hell they're talking about, but take a stab anyway because it's the kind of thing that makes life interesting.

It might be obvious that I'm #6, so being true to my #6 form, I feel I must go on to speculate that the #2s probably view themselves as #4s. Those #2s rarely see themselves! A lot of time those #2s like to think there's no such thing as themselves, or their faults are an illusion so why bother changing or addressing what isn't real? The real #4 people would probably never bother to read this post. The #1s and #5s would recognize themselves humbly. :D The #3 people are wild cards, impossible to predict. :boogie: There it is!

Ooooops there's #7 too = all or some of the above at times. But not to recognize the #1-#6 would be boring and not worth posting this indulgent, shot-in-the-dark, tongue-in-cheek, tacky exercise in the first place.

I fall into and under each category you've listed. I have played all of these roles, both here at this forum, and in my own life.

I think your observations AG, while accurate and comical, can be limiting too, and I hope we each have the ability here to realize there is more to each of us than meets the eye.

:O: :x

{Glad you're sticking around}

That covers all of the active posters. What do you size me up as? I'm guessing a 1 but maybe I'm the blind to the fact that I'm a sanctimonious prick of a 2...my pet peeve is "spiritual superiority". Did you mention the ones that over complicate grammar and diction just so that they can have a superior feeling of intelligence and a high IQ so says Google when you need a synonym or to understand what a comma splice is? Another pet peeve.

Thanks for this. It gave me a smile. I needed one. :)

Nice to meet you, btw.

Hi Robin, I love your post. As far as I can tell, you're a #1 but you might have some #4 in you too because you can 'say a lot' without saying a lot. Dee's right, we're all hybrids of these types and our make-up can change from day to day. Anyway, you're definitely not a #2. Your description of the people who complicate grammar and diction to feel superior is spot on sista. :)) That's a #2 for ya, they are my pet peeve too. When I wrote the post I was really trying hard to describe each type in a way that finds good in everyone. It was tough for the pseudo-intellectual sanctimonious pricks in category #2. 'Thusly' I left it at the zubaz comment before it got mean.

Nice to meet you too!

I think I'm a #4. I know I don't post a lot. Hopefully I do manage to communicate much in few words, but the reality could be I just don't have a lot to say.

I KNOW I don't have a lot to say. I CAN say I'm definitely a #5...been observing much of that...had hopes of "fixing" it at some point...gave up... :))

You forgot about the type #7... those who just come to the board to whine, piss and moan about how bad their lives are, how they can't make decision, how they are victims of life, and how much they need help from everybody else. Basically, this type of person is an attention whore seeking to drum up sympathy and response from other board members. *raises hand* Been there, done that...and in a place still kinda doing that.

Sometimes I'm a 5, sometimes a 6, sometimes a 2, but trying hard to be a 1. Been kinda a 4-ish person at times too. My poetry can be a 3. Now I feel schizophrenic. tee hee
